EP.139 | Familiar With Your Barbell's Warranty?
Have a barbell? One, two, three, or more?!
Whether you're currently a bar owner or in the market, this week's #BarTipTuesday should be of some value.
Below you will find FIVE barbell companies with the specifics of their barbell's warranty policy. This week's tip is by no means a nail-biter, but it's always a great reference!
Starting with the king of the strength & conditioning equipment. With their selection expanding ever so vastly, it is important to familiarize yourself with the barbell's warranties. While most barbells fall under the 'lifetime warranty' category, there are a few outliers.
Rogue fitness will warranty this product from defects in material, functionality and workmanship for the lifetime of the product. “Lifetime” warranty coverage ends when the product becomes unusable for reasons other than defects in materials or workmanship. The warranty applies only to the original purchaser of the product for so long as the original purchaser owns the product, and is non-transferable. Warranty does not apply to barbells that need maintenance.*
FOR ALL WARRANTIES * Warranty may be voided for any product which has been damaged due to negligent or faulty use, alteration, maintenance, storage or handling by the user. Any specific issues regarding a Rogue product with which a customer is not satisfied will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
** Warranty against bending does not cover any bar which has been damaged due to negligent or faulty use, alteration, maintenance, storage or handling by the user. Negligent or faulty use includes abusive dropping of the bar (i.e., dropping the bar on a box, bench, spotter arms or pins in a power rack, excessive dropping with insufficient or damaged bumpers, excessive dropping with iron plates, excessive dropping on concrete or similar surfaces, and similar usage). Any specific issues regarding a Rogue product with which a customer is not satisfied will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. We have found that most problems with bars we replace are related to abusive use rather than manufacturing or materials issues.
Not many specifics, but here's what is listed on Eleiko's website regarding barbell warranties:

USA are warranted to the original owner for a period of ten "10" years under normal use from the date of purchase against defects in materials and workmanship. The Texas Power Bars are not warranteed if used in a power rack for shrugs, a curling stand, bench, or blocks which was not the original purpose of the bar.
American Barbell products known as Olympic bars for weightlifting and bars for powerlifting shall be free from manufacturer defects in material and workmanship for the lifetime of such products when used properly for their intended use. For purposes of this limited warranty, “lifetime” warranty coverage ends when the applicable product becomes unusable for reasons other than defects in workmanship or material or design issues. This limited lifetime warranty applies only to the original customer/end user as long as the original customer/end user owns the product. This limited lifetime warranty is non-transferable. Limited lifetime warranty does NOT cover a bar's finish/coating.

COVERED: If an item has a manufacturer’s defect, or if there is a problem that occurs after normal use...you guessed it will be COVERED.
