EP.15 | The Texas Power Bar Progression

This week we take you through the cleaning progression of a Texas Powerlifting bar.

This barbell shown here is mainly used specifically for deadlifts. It features a black zinc coating, which will provide some protection against rust. However, it is imperative that you maintain your barbell especially in the humid months.

As you will see in the video, we use a stiff nylon bristle brush to loosen up the chalk/skin, followed by working in our Bar Shield formula with it as well. In the vast majority of circumstances, a stiff nylon brush should be sufficient. Resorting to a brass or stainless steel finish, could potentially scratch your barbell, or even take the finish off!
